The One School of the Arts cheer teams, Lions Elite (6th–11th grade) and Cubs Elite (2nd–5th grade), kicked off their season with a strong showing at FCC Regionals, hosted at Mount Dora Christian Academy. For many of the younger athletes, it was their first time performing in front of a competitive audience, yet both teams delivered confident, high-energy routines. By the end of the event, Cubs Elite placed 2nd, and Lions Elite earned 3rd, setting a promising tone for what would become a packed competition season. Oni-Symone Richmond, eighth grade, said “After Regionals, we were proud but hungry to do better. Spirit Clash showed us what we’re capable of when we work together and trust each other on the mat.”
The momentum continued as the teams traveled to Tampa for their second event, the Spirit Clash Championship. Building on the experience from Regionals, both teams took the floor with determination, and it paid off. Lions Elite and Cubs Elite both earned 1st place, sweeping their divisions with strong technique and school pride. They also left with Most Spirited for both teams, and Lions Elite earned School Grade Champion, a recognition of their elevated performance and energy. The youngest on the Cubs Elite Cheer Team, Tabi Mays, second grade, said “We’re the younger team, but we cheer with so much spirit. Getting 1st place and Most Spirited made us feel like all our hard work really paid off.”
Most recently, the teams competed at FCC States, one of the toughest events of the season. Facing teams from across Florida, Lions Elite secured an impressive 4th place, while Cubs Elite took home 3rd place, showing consistency and growth with every routine. These placements highlighted their continued progress as they stood strong among some of the top squads in the state. “This has been one of the toughest seasons I’ve ever coached, but I watched these girls rise, growing in skill, facing adversity, and improving with every performance. The friendships, unity, and ministry moments we’ve shared will outlast any accolade or trophy. We’re not just competing for medals, we’re hoping to gain something eternal.” said Michelle Beedle, Coach.
With Regionals, Spirit Clash, and States now behind them, both Lions Elite and Cubs Elite have proved their dedication, teamwork, and passion for cheerleading. As the season continues, the athletes look forward to refining their routines, learning new skills, and representing One School with excellence and spirit, all the way to Nationals. “The energy these athletes bring is unreal. You can see how much heart they put into each routine, and it’s been amazing to watch them shine at every competition.” said Khania Dawson, parent. With three competitions already behind them and even bigger goals ahead, both Lions Elite and Cubs Elite are proving that this season is only the beginning of what they can achieve.
