8th Grade Takes on DC

8th+Grade+Takes+on+DC

In an exciting adventure, the eighth graders recently traveled on a memorable trip to the nation’s capital, Washington DC. Accompanied by their teachers and chaperones, the scholars got to visit famous landmarks like the White House and Capitol Hill. It was a chance for them to gain a deeper understanding of the country’s rich history in a real, tangible way. It deepened their understanding of American history and the sacrifices made by those who shaped the nation’s past. The trip not only enhanced their knowledge of history, but also provided valuable lessons outside of the classroom.

During their trip, a significant highlight was the visit to the Bible Museum. They explored the stories of the Bible, the impact of the Bible, and special exhibits in the World Stage Theater across multiple floors. Cadence Payne, 8th, stated, “I really enjoyed the Bible Museum because we got to experience the Bible in a way I have never seen before as it came alive.” The Bible Museum showcases historical artifacts while still engaging its visitors of all ages.

Beyond the structured, packed itinerary, when scholars return to their hotel they are able to have a Bible study, delving into the teachings of the Bible. This time strengthens their spiritual growth and their bonds with each other at the same time. The unity during these sessions extend beyond the walls of the hotel, creating a lasting sense of community among the scholars.

As they return to their classrooms, the students bring back not just memories but also a deeper appreciation for the nation’s history and the values it stands for. Their journey to Washington DC has broadened their horizons and left them with a sense of pride and responsibility as young citizens.
